The Jude Thaddeus Program is a social education based program that emphasizes the process of learning through doing, experiencing, and providing positive role models.
The Jude Thaddeus Program operates on the premise that learning through experience is an integral piece of the education process. The program is structured so that sobriety is permanently accomplished, unlike traditional drug and alcohol rehab centers and alcoholism treatments, whether they are secular or Christian drug treatment centers and to observe and interact with persons who have successfully experienced the program in the past as well as be educated by teachers and teachers aides. The social education relationship is between the person and the program, and the program is made up of all participants, volunteers and staff. The program takes place in a positive sober environment wherein the individual feels comfortable and safe. The Jude Thaddeus Program is effective because from their first day, guests begin experiencing significant personal accomplishments, learn that they have choice and complete power over their problems, development of strong interactive social skills, individual satisfaction through individual responsibility and an increased confidence in their ability to function in the world around them.
Guests at the St. Jude Retreat House are educated, not rehabilitated as they are in drug and alcohol rehab centers and treatment programs. Rehabilitation implies disease, and the disease of addiction is a myth. The Jude Thaddeus Program is taught by educators, not mental health professionals. These teachers understand the challenges of life from personal experience and academically. From the beginning, guests are treated with the respect and dignity afforded a good friend or family member. The Jude Thaddeus Program is a choice-based program that exposes guests to all aspects of living a productive substance free life. As guests are learning that they do, in fact, have the power to make their own choices in life, they are also learning that they are spiritual, intellectual and physical beings. They learn how to make better responsible choices to affect all aspects of their lives. Throughout their stay, guests are in charge of their own recovery; they remain responsible for their own decisions. They learn the ability to exercise the free will they were given to benefit their lives and those around them.
The social educational experience is an entirely different approach from drug and alcoholism treatment programs. The approach is remarkably simple. Guests are taught how to recover using a method that has worked for millions of others. The method includes two main themes. A thorough understanding of alcohol and drug abuse and specific solutions to correct the abuse. The second theme is learning how to put into action techniques to achieve a permanent solution to the abuse, to begin building a life of purpose, happiness and fulfillment. Our guests will learn how to improve one's quality of life, how to set positive goals, and how to prepare for returning home. After the initial six weeks, some guests will choose to return home to their families, jobs or school as motivated, productive people. For those guests that feel a need for additional time to reinforce what they have learned, St. Jude Thaddeus offers a Jude Thaddeus Session II Program to further their understanding of all they have learned, and to develop a more detailed plan for their future. Make the choice to call today - thousands have found a permanent solution!
